La Garrotxa, the region of volcanoes
Mas Ombravella, Rural Apartments, nature tourism is located in Garrotxa region in the north of Catalonia, in the upper basin of the river Fluvia, headers Muga and Amer and Llémena (See location maps).
In our region of Garrotxa you can see two completely different types of landscape. While for much of the southern half are spread over 40 various volcanoes and lava flows, forming a smooth landscape with few slopes, Protected by Natural Park of the Volcanic Area of the Garrotxa, from the valley of the river Fluvia north the landscape changes dramatically, becoming steeper and steeper cliffs and canyons with abundant. It is thehigh Garrotxa, an area declared a Natural.
All these spaces, along with other, as the river Fluvia, part of the Nature Network 2000, a European initiative to protect the most unique natural areas, various, rars, preserved, representativius, fragile and vulnerable to connect with others of the same features.
The climate of the Garrotxa is Mediterranean montane. Rainfall is abundant throughout the year, and winter is the driest season. The frequent rains generate cool summers, while the influence of the Pyrenees for the winters cold.
The vegetation reflects the climate. While the high Garrotxa and east of the region is an area of vegetation, Mediterranean, the rest of the region is covered by sub-Mediterranean vegetation that happens in the most humid Atlantic.
